APS Architectural design has been involved with renovation and extension projects for a variety of listed buildings.
Any work carried out on a listed building which will affect its character and appearance will require listed building consent.
It has always been APS Architectural Design’s thinking that any work carried out as renovation and/or extension to a listed building or period property should preserve and retain as much of the Buildings original character as possible. Extensions although can be contemporary in appearance, should be sympathetic, embracing the original property by making a clear distinction between the two.
Renovation and conversions works which could be part of a change of use for a listed building will require detailed plans as part of the listed building application which illustrates the level of work, types of materials/products used and justification for the work.
It is important to remember that planning permission will be needed for any extension (and some external alterations) to a listed building.
